My Car
Below you will find pictures of my car and a brief history behind it.
The Car
My car is an MG Turbo Metro. It has a 1.3 turbo engine. It has had a few small modifications made to the car. The headlights have been replaced with VW Golf mk4 headlights, the rear clusters have been replaced with Pug 106 rear lights, it has a twin ietex exhaust system, tinted windows and alloy door panels.
The problems
When I first got the car there were allot of problems, the valves were sticking, the head gasket was leaking as was the exhaust gasket and the oil seals. The piston rings were worn out and the heater matrix leaked into the car. The drive shaft on the nearside was knocking and there was allot of rust on the car. The clutch throw out bearing was completely ceased. And once we had stripped the engine we found the idle gear on the car was completly nackered!
All the work to the engine has been carried out by my dad and my self, with a big thanks going out to Johnny a family friend and mechanic who has helped out though-out all the work.
History
My car was given to me by my Uncle who had the car for about 6 years, for the last 3 years it had been sitting on his drive way not run. I was originally given the car as a project to work on, as the engine need allot of TLC as did the body work.
I then came across an advert where a TV company was looking for cars to modify. My car was accepted and was taken away by Andy Saunders to be modified. The TV company was Top Gear.
The car received a re-spray from a faded silver to Mitsubishi Red Pearl. The windows were tinted and a twin exit exhaust was added. Then some VW Golf mk4 headlights were moulded into the front to replace the standard square metro headlights. At the rear a set of Pug 106 lights were sunk in and the body was reshaped to fit. And a set of 14" multi-spoke Raceline alloys were added with Yokohoma A539 185/45 tyres. The car is not complete yet, but below are some pictures of the car so far:
